Thanks again, Greg, Travis, your families, and volunteers for the Hollister race.  I had a good time.  The course was tough but isn't that what it's all about?  See you in February.

Last Race of 2009

By Travis Sluder | Posted on 10/15/2009 4:56 AM | Comments on 0 comments

Hollister will be SVBRC's last race for 2009. Conditions on the course should be perfect with all the recent rain. The temperature is forecasted to be 74 with no rain. A perfect day of racing awaits you on October 17 at Hollister Hills. Look for some great changes in 2010. Changes include 2 race series, 5 races each. We are currently trying to fine tune the schedule and will let you know what we have planned in the next few weeks. Thanks for all your support in 2009, look for even better things to come in 2010!

Thanks again,

Travis & Tammy

Henry Coe MTB Challenge

By Gary Raley | Posted on 9/20/2009 10:06 PM | Comments on 1 comment

Thanks South Valley.  Had a great time.  Your events are always fun and organized.  The volunteers and the SV team are great.  I always feel welcome at your events.  I hope to see more people out for the Hollister Hlls race.  It appears to be a bit easier than Henry Coe so maybe more riders will come out.  See you then.

Henry Coe Results are up.

By Greg Richards | Posted on 9/20/2009 11:02 AM | Comments on 0 comments

The Henry Coe results are up at: Coe Results

We had a good (not great) turnout.  The over whelming thoughts on the course were very positive.  The State also commented on how good the event ran.  This was the first race there in many years.  They are looking forward to more.

Thanks to all the racers who turned out and did a great job.

The results above have one modification.  We had one rider in the Expert class without a USA Cycling Cat 1 license so we had to remove from the official results, as they get submitted to USA Cycling.  Next remember your licenses!

For our first USA Cycling sanctioned event, I thought it went really well.  I would like to thank our Official Ryan Fu who also worked the event and helped with timing.

We also cannot forget the awesome volunteers:
Phil (at the first turn)
Gary (aid station)
Judy
Matt
Elaine
Tammy
Debbie
Karen
We could not run these events without their help.

We also need to thank the sponsors:
Concept Cyclery (bike support)
Mind Body Motion (massages)
August Hanks (photographer, pics should be up soon)
Hammer Nutrition (nutrition)
RoadID (prizes)

Post your race reports here:

Please keep an eye out for upcoming events and races.

Thanks Again

News and Updates

By Greg Richards | Posted on 9/14/2009 11:08 AM | Comments on 2 comments

The Henry Coe race is all set for Saturday the 19th.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Reminder, this is a USA Cycling Sanctioned event.  You will be required to show your license there.  We will have membership applications onsite and single day license applications.  All CAT 1's are required to have an annual membership.

The athlete guide is up at: Guide

Bring plenty of fluids, this will be a difficult course. See you bright an early Saturday.

Other news:

South Valley Bike and Run and changed our website url (the old one will still work) and logo to South Valley Endurance (www.svendurance.com).  As we have progressed into more races (see below) we realized that this sounded better, shorter, plus we wanted to do more.  We still have yearly memberships that lower your entry fees into events and they get you a club T shirt.

Club members will soon have access to workout programs to further enhance your fitness.  Keep an eye out for them.

We have scheduled 10 Mountain Bike races for next year.  They are going to be run in 2 - five race series.  The first series starts up in February.  There will be points awarded.  See here for points information: FAQ PAGE

We also have 3 - six race Trail running series starting next year.  We are happy to announce that GU Energy has picked up sponsorship of all running events.  These will be points based series as well.

Upcoming Events:

Hollister Hills Mountain Bike Race on Saturday October 17th and Trail run on Sunday October 18th.  We are working with the state to lower the fees on this event to help out with the economy.  It appears we will be able to lower them to $35.00.  If we do this please show us how much it means by registering.

Group Events:

This past weekend we had a good size group show up for the Henry Coe pre rides.  Good job everyone.

The group trail run on Sunday had a large turnout as well.  See you at the next one.

MTB Racing Series

By Gary Raley | Posted on 9/8/2009 9:08 PM | Comments on 1 comment

I've read that SVBRC will host a MTB Racing Series.  When will this start?  Where will they be held?  Will it be USA Cycling sanctioned?  This is my first year of racing anything.  Thanks to South Valley Bike and Run Club, I'm hooked.  Is it possible to enjoy something that kicks your rear?

Looking for someone to teach me how to ride a lot better.  Moved back to the area recently and trying to get active in riding again.  Its been a while and life hasn't been the most active.  If you're willing to ride with a slow poke email me.

USA Cycling Sanctioned Events

By Greg Richards | Posted on 9/1/2009 2:53 PM | Comments on 0 comments

SVBRC is happy to announce that the Henry Coe Mountain Bike Challenge on Sept 19th, 2009 is now USA Cycling Sanctioned.  Come get your points at a local race.  This is the first race held in Henry Coe in many, many years.  Enjoy it.

The race itself will see Beginners (Cat3) doing a roughly 15 mile loop with tons of climbing.  The Sports(Cat2) and Experts (Cat1) will do a 24 mile loop.  **The course can still change.

Pre-riding will be guided by Travis on the 12th and 13th.  More information is on the website.

Hurry and sign up, this event is limited to 150 riders and it is selling quickly.  We fully expect this one to sell out.  The price goes up Sept 12th.  We should have the athlete guide up next week.

We have also sanctioned the event following it at Hollister Hills.  This event will now be run in the killer 4 x 4 area known as upper ranch.  The state has worked closely with us to establish a course.  Online signup is open.

We would also like to welcome another full time sponsor.  Mind Body Motion was out at the first few events giving massages and demonstrating therapy.  They are now a full time sponsor and will be out at our events.  We heard rave reviews about them!

Reminder that pictures are available from the last 3 events online under past events.  Please review those.

Next week we will be releasing our schedule for the rest of the year and next year. You will be happy to know we have 2 five race series for Mountain bikes and 3 6 race series for trail running.  Plus hosts of other events, like kids triathlons, and a Road Time Trial Series.  All series will be points based.  See the faq section on the website for more information on points.

We are reaching out to our fellow bike riders and their friends and families to spread the word about our running events.  We have a good network or riders established, but we do not for runners.

Thanks

Greg Richards / Race Director

Henry Coe Pre-ride

By Gary Raley | Posted on 8/26/2009 8:40 PM | Comments on 1 comment

How do you get to the Hunting Hollow entrance to Henry Coe?  I rode the Coe TT last week and remember riding past it.  I'm from Turlock so I don't know the area very well.  Hope see lots of you on Sunday.  If you see a Silver Dodge Ram with a Stumpjumper on the rack, its me.  Stop and point me in the right direction! Thanks
